Sulu Terrorrists |
The situation in Borneo has become quite confusing when the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) has urged the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the United Nations (UN) to intervene and initiate negotiations between Malaysia and the Sulu Regime, but somehow, at the same time, urged that the exclusion of the Filipino government.
Yet, it is more confusing when Nurallaj Misuari, the mastermind of the terrorist faction, has urged the Prime Minister of Malaysia, Najib Razak, to stop deploying troops to Sabah since, according to him, he (Nur Misuari) claimed Sabah and Sarawak are the ancestral homes to him and his cult followers.
From what I know, Sarawak was once a part of the Bruneian Empire when it was at its best. During the reign of the great Sultan Bolkiah, which started in 1485AD, the empire excelled so much until it was a superpower of the Malay Archipelago, with a golden age economy. I am really impressed of Sultan Bolkiah as His Majesty would travel abroad to seek new ideas to be studied in great details before implementing them to his territories. With a noble sultan such as himself, Brunei expanded into a vast empire until successfully grasped nearly all of Borneo and some parts of Philippines, especially the Mindanao archipelago. In my opinion, Nur Misuari is declaring that he is one of the descendants within the Bruneian Sultanate.
If it was true, then Malaysia should hand Sarawak back to Nur Misuari. And I profess myself disappointed to Najib’s government due to the premier’s failure to tell Nur Misuari that in 1841, during the reign of Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddien II, hundreds of years after the death of the great Bolkiah, the Bruneian Sultanate had passed Sarawak to James Brooke as a reward for the latter’s assistance in repelling pirates and insurgents. Right here, Sarawak under the Sultanate had changed its form into the Kingdom of Sarawak under the Protectorate of the British Empire. This also means, the Sultanate, until now, no longer wields any rights of sovereignty for land reclamation. Until the time has come in 1946, the 105-year-old protectorate became a colony, then in 1963, joining the Federation of Malaya in the Formation of Malaysia under an official memorandum of the United Nations itself, which was the General Assembly Resolution 1541.
The Manila Accord, signed in 1963 at Manila, saw the official inclusion of Sarawak and Sabah into the Formation of Malaysia, agreed by both Indonesia (Kalimantan) and Philippines, up to the reason of abiding to the people’s wishes. Malaysia has everything according to the letter of the law. So, I would like to apologize, sarcastically, to Nur Misuari, since Sarawak is now under the sovereignty of Malaysia; not the Bruneian Sultanate or your Sulu Regime. The same thing applies to Sabah, if we go back through time, it is true that the Eastern Sabah was ceded to the Sulu Sultanate for their aid to Sultan Muhyiddin in the 13-year-Bruneian Civil War.
Allow me to go to a greater detail. In 1848, British made Labuan as a colony after a cession from the same sultan, Omar Ali Saifuddien, two years earlier. Also, the Sulu Sultanate once made an agreement to the British East India Company in the British efforts of starting a trading post, which failed. Then on, there was effort after effort, until all of North Borneo fell into the hands of Alfred Dent and in 1882, Sabah was changed into North Borneo, Protectorate of the United Kingdom, with Kudat as their capital, then Sandakan in 1883.
The Madrid Protocol of 1885 foresaw a solution to the British-Spanish conflict, whereby the Spaniards was declared sovereignty in the Sulu archipelago, while North Borneo remained under the British protectorate.
The same 1963 eventually saw the inclusion of Sabah into the Formation of Malaysia. So it’s simple for me to say, the Sulu Regime are now a bunch of terrorists and invaders who had lost the rights and sovereignty to their ancestral lands. Sabah belongs to Malaysia now. The Manila Accord had sealed it. And Nur Misuari is merely making a fool out of himself when he stated he wanted peace, which in turn, he caused a massive casualty in the eyes of the Malaysian people. And my answer to his statement, ‘brotherly manner… for the best interest of the people’, LEAVE SABAH.
We would never relinquish control of Sabah and Sarawak. You have lost your control during the British era once ago. So, declare your war on the United Kingdom before you disrupt the peace of our lands. Sabah and Sarawak are better off without you murderers. – N.A. and AFDS.
